Lao Cha Tou, literally "Old Tea Heads, or "Tea Nuggets" are a unique treat within the world of Puerh tea.
When raw (sheng) Puerh tea is fermented in a large pile to become ripe (shou) Puerh tea, something special happens. Because of the heat and pressure of all of the tea leaves together, these little dense tea nuggets are formed at the bottom of the pile.
Because these are just a small part of the tea piling process, they are quite rare. These special little nugs are quite dense and take some time to open up and release their full flavor and potential, but when they do it's a real treat.
These nugs have been aged since 2014 and come to us from Mt. Ailao in Yunnan province. They are made from the leaves of wild trees that are between 100-300 years old! Grab a bag of nugs and find out for yourself just how special they are.
